Alan Grant – Partner – Hoddesdon

Alan Grant is a partner of the firm and works from our Hoddesdon office. He qualified with one of the top city firms before seeking the challenge of a range of work from commercial & civil litigation, family and employment.

For many years he has practised in these fields and has worked with large institutions, small businesses and individuals resolving disputes either by negotiation or ultimately in court.

Some of his work has included contractual disputes between companies, professional negligence, re architects solicitors and accountants, building dispute claims, possession actions, land and boundary disputes, Inheritance Act claims and disputes over wills, personal injury and insurance claims, unfair dismissal and discrimination claims for employer and employees, re compromise agreements, financial claims in divorce and for co-habitees applications re contact and residence for children.

His range of work of work includes:

Zaida is based in our Hertford office, specialising in conveyancing. She deals with all aspects of residential sales and purchases along with re-mortgages, and transfers of equity. Zaida gained a Law degree from Keele University in 2014 and then went on to complete a Masters in Sports Law and Practice. Zaida joined our firm in 2021 and is currently studying to become a Chartered Legal Executive.

Outside of work Zaida’s main interests are reading and going to the football.

David Citrine qualified as a solicitor in 1978 and is based in our Enfield office. He specialises in residential conveyancing, commercial property law and wills and probate.

David served his Articles in  Tottenham and upon his qualification became a partner in Alfred Slater & Co., and then Fairbairn Smith & Co. where he continued until that firm was  incorporated into Duffield Harrison.

He undertakes a variety of common law and trust work including family, contentious probate and trusts, (he was the instructing solicitor in Vacciana V Herod - [2005] All ER (D) 200 (Feb)), professional negligence, contract and landlord and tenant work both commercial and private. 

He holds a part time judicial appointment.

Away from the office David is involved in various local organisations and enjoys family activities, sports spectating and cycling.

David is a Partner at Duffield Harrison and has been a qualified Solicitor for over 25 years. He specialises in all aspects of Private Client work including Will making, Estate administration, Lasting Powers of Attorney and Lifetime Tax Planning. David’s background was initially in Family Law having been a member of the Law Society Family Panel and a member of “Resolution – The First for Family Law”. David promotes a supportive and understanding approach to his Private Client and Estate Administration work, doing his best to ensure clients are as much at ease as possible through what can sometimes be a very traumatic period.

Outside of work, David is a past Chair of a local youth football team, Bengeo Tigers FC, as well as a past Chair and Honorary Legal Adviser at Hertford Citizens Advice Bureau. He was also a School Governor for about 10 years where he was Vice Chair to the Board of Governors at a local Primary School. David’s current leisure activities include enjoying time with his family, watching and participating in sport and attending the cinema and theatre.

Emma Pedley – Licensed Conveyancer – Hoddesdon

Emma Pedley is a Licensed Conveyancer working in the property department. She deals with all aspects of residential sales and purchases along with probate sales, lease extensions and transfers of equity. 

Emma specialises in right to buy and shared ownership properties. Emma prides herself of giving great client service and keeping clients up to date and informed during the transaction making the process as stress free as possible.

Geoffrey Keens – Partner – Hertford

Geoff qualified as a Solicitor in 1985 and has spent most of his professional career working at partner level in Central London law firms.
He is a partner, based in our Hertford office and specialises in civil dispute resolution in the following areas:

• Commercial and general civil litigation
• Professional negligence (including claims against solicitors)
• Property and insurance-related litigation; personal injury and medical negligence
•Employment advice
Geoff has a particular interest in legal costs and for many years has sat as a Deputy Costs Judge in the Senior Courts Costs Office.

Lorna Jouassain is a qualified solicitor with experience of dealing with many aspects of Private Client work and in particular specialises in wills, trusts, wealth management (including Inheritance Tax planning), administration of estates and lasting powers of attorney. Lorna is based in our Enfield office and is a full member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners. Lorna joined Duffield Harrison LLP in 2014 and is a strong addition to the Firm’s Private Client Department having taken over from retiring Partner Ann Pearce. With an understanding and practical approach to her cases Lorna will be able to assist you efficiently and effectively in the matters she acts for you on.

Michael retired from the partnership in 2009 after a full working lifetime with the Practice, mainly in the areas of corporate and commercial property, together with general law. He is a former solicitor and provides part time unqualified assistance in that capacity to the partners on a number of projects. His main residence is in Cowes now and he continues to be involved in yacht racing in the Solent.

Nigel is a Chartered Legal Executive. Following intensive experience with all areas of legal practice during the earlier years of his career Nigel now concentrates on dealing with property transactions encompassing domestic and commercial conveyancing. 

Nigel’s interests include DIY, gardening, cookery and languages. Nigel understands Spanish and Portuguese reasonably well.

Nigel feels that the combination of his practical nature with the depth of his legal experience enables him to adopt an organised and efficient approach to his work enhancing his ability to guide his clients through the complex maze of a property transaction with clear advice and prompt and effective action at all stages.

Richard Dewey – Partner – Hoddesdon

Richard Dewey joined the firm's Property Department based in the Hoddesdon office shortly after qualifying as a solicitor in 2007.

He has developed his expertise in both residential and commercial property transactions. Also, Richard has recently been assisting Michael Harrison on corporate transactions, in particular with the sale and purchase of businesses.

Richard is a Partner in Duffield Harrison and specialises in all aspects of Residential and Commercial Property including:

• Residential sale and purchase
• Lease extensions
• Transfer of equity and remortgages
• Lifetime mortgages
• Shared ownership sale and purchase
• Commercial leases and mortgages

Having joined the firm on qualification he has established a strong reputation in these areas. Richard’s leisure activities include reading the books of Ian Rankin, watching and playing sport and attending the theatre.

Richard Morley – Solicitor – Enfield & Hoddesdon

Richard is a solicitor in the firm’s Dispute Resolution Department and is able to accept instructions in a broad range of civil litigation matters, including property disputes, personal injury and claims under the Inheritance Act 1975 and Trust of Land and Appointment of Trustees Act (ToLATA) 1996. He is also undertakes Family work including divorce, ancillary relief applications and Children Act 1989 applications. Richard qualified as a solicitor in August 2014 having undertaken his training contract at Fairbairn Smith & Co. prior to its incorporation into DHP Law LLP. He promotes a common sense approach to litigation and will utilise the full range of dispute resolution options available wherever possible. He has a good relationship with specialist barristers in a variety of areas, and also undertakes his own advocacy work in the County Court.

Outside of work Richard enjoys playing tennis, running, sailing, reading, playing the saxophone and the theatre.

Imogen joined the practice in August 2013 as a secretary. She is Assistant to Richard Dewey in the Property Department. She is currently studying CILEX Level 6 diploma in Law and Practice. Out of the office Imogen enjoys spending time with her family, going to concerts and long walks in the countryside.

Tara joined the firm in May 2018 shortly after qualifying as a Solicitor. Tara works in the property department dealing with all aspects of residential sales and purchases as well as transfers of equity and re-mortgages. Tara strives to build a rapport with clients and prides herself on providing an excellent service. 
In her spare time, Tara enjoys travelling and spending time with her friends and family.
